In the midst of the Capitol siege, Trump attempted calling Tommy Tuberville but got the incorrect senator thumbnail

Summary List PlacementIt seems that nobody can get junior Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville on the very first try. Simply days ago Donald Trump’s individual attorney Rudy Giuliani left a long, rambling, and rather revealing voicemail for Tuberville– only it was the incorrect number and the call reached an unnamed politician.
” How’s it going, Tommy?” the president asked.
Lee informed Trump he wasn’t Tommy.
” Well, who is this?” Trump asked. “It’s Mike Lee,” the senator stated. “Oh, hi Mike. I called Tommy.” Lee stated he then handed his phone over to Tuberville, who spoke to the president for around ten minutes, according to the Deseret News. In the middle of their call, Lee said, the Capitol police burst in and advised everyone to leave the building. As the pro-Trump mob moved closer, Lee stated he panicked and asked Tuberville for his phone back.
” I don’t wish to interrupt your call with the president, but we’re being evacuated and I require my phone,” he stated.
Tuberville later on told Lee he didn’t think the president understood that the siege was happening. Tuberville was one of several Republican senators– including Josh Hawley of Missouri and Ted Cruz of Texas– who voted to reverse election results in Arizona and Pennsylvania.
In December, Tuberville received appreciation from Trump after he stated that he would not dismiss challenging the election results during the Electoral College certification process. Following the siege of the Capitol, Tuberville tweeted his condemnation of the protesters.” The other day was a sad day for our excellent country,” he composed. “I highly condemn the violence and actions we saw from those who stormed the Capitol. It weakens the freedoms we delight in as Americans, and it has no location in our democracy.” Join the conversation about this story” NOW ENJOY: Why pureblooded horse semen is the world’s most expensive liquid
